Lamborghini - Aventador LP 700-4

According to its tradition, Lamborghini’s new flagship bears the name of a bull -- naturally, a particularly courageous specimen from the world of the Spanish Corrida. Aventador was a bull bred by the Don Celestino Cuardi Vides family that in October 1993 entered into battle at the Saragossa Arena, earning the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" for the outstanding courage shown during the fight.

Porsche - Cayenne Turbo

Understatement coupled with clear statements: lower fuel consumption, faster acceleration. Supreme engineering that speaks for itself. In short, everything you’d expect from a Turbo.

Another clear statement is the distinctive sound from the twin dual-tube tailpipes. Produced by the 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 368 kW (500 hp) and features direct fuel injection (DFI). The car has a top speed of 278 km/h (173 mph) and the benchmark sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is completed in 4.7 seconds. Maximum torque is 700 Nm. Here too, fuel consumption has been reduced by 23% and CO2 emissions by 25%. Not least thanks to a weight saving of 185 kg*.

Optimum traction and safety are provided by Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive. Also connecting the car to the road are the new 19-inch Cayenne Turbo wheels. The chassis on the new Cayenne Turbo is equipped as standard with air suspension featuring self-levelling and ride-height control, as well as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). This electronic damping control system offers continuous adjustment of the damping forces on each wheel – depending on current road conditions and driving style. This enables greater car control, improving safety and comfort.

Comfort is also key in the new Cayenne Turbo interior. Standard equipment comprises an interior package in smooth-finish leather, a rooflining in Alcantara and an electrically adjustable steering column.

Also fitted as standard: the BOSE® Surround Sound System, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation module, adaptive sports seats with comfort memory package (18-way), Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM), automatic headlight activation and automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors.

Exterior features exclusive to the new Cayenne Turbo include Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), larger air intakes and a distinctive ‘power dome’ on the engine lid – a clear reference to the enormous potential within.

Based on the same solid foundations as its predecessor, the new Cayenne Turbo blends phenomenal performance with comfort and efficiency. It does so in style but without ever compromising on any one in particular. Because we believe that less can also mean more.

Porsche - Carrera GT

Developed in 1999, Porsche Carrera GT, manufactured by Porsche of Germany, is priced at $440,000 dollars. It is well worth its price if we count the 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW) and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds, touching a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

The design is stunning too, Carrera GT has a 5 colors paint schemes that includes: black, guards red, fayence yellow, basalt black, GT silver and seal grey.
The innovating thing about this car is the way that its engine is placed: with the use of a clutch made of a high-tech ceramic material, it`s allowing the engine to sit lower in the chassis than in any other super car. This feature is not only making the Carrera GT a road car with the looks of a race one, but also improves its aerodynamics and lowers its center of gravity.

Porche Carrera GT does have traction control even if, like some of its competitions, doesn`t use electronic driving aids such as dynamic stability control.

Pagani - Huayra (2011)

After seven years of hard work I am now able to tell you a little brief history and the path that led to the birth of the Huayra, project name C9.

The concept was born in 2003, the year of the introduction of the Zonda S Roadster. As you may recall the early 2000s were prosperous for the world of supercars. The commitment of big car manufacturers have contributed to the rise of extraordinary cars like the Bugatti Veyron, Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes McLaren SLR.
This context led us to make several observations concerning the future of the Zonda and what could be a new Pagani. Since the original design of the Zonda was done in the early 90s the first thought was that it was now an obsolete project and we decided to imagine the car totally different in form, dimension, dynamics and technology, all this without losing the essence of our approach, to follow a concept born in the Renaissance where Leonardo da Vinci told us that art and science are disciplines that need to walk alongside. The eternal element air in all its forms, especially wind, became determining in defining the concept and it was a great inspiration, a sit is ever present in our lives: a jet turbine, the silence of a glider... the elegance of the movements the wind creates&hellip but also the violence and force that it can unleash.

The Huayra is made of more than 4000 components (engine and gearbox not included). To create them and put them together requires creativity, patience and passion that I shared with a fantastic young team and with the most competent partner in all sectors.
In defining the size, I immediately thought of a car that would be longer than the Zonda, a track increased by 70 mm, a cabin position shifted 40 mm to the back and even more spacious. The silhouette should be soft, easy to read and form itself from lean and sleek lines that have a clear beginning and an end.

As the style is concerned during these five years we have tried to find the best compromise working on 8 scale models and 2 full scale models, as well as hundreds of drawings without never leaving the original idea and taking meticulous care of the details.
The ideas were of including elliptical shapes reminding of our brand in the front and at the back, keeping the central exhaust as the completion of the line of the canopy, the line starting at the headlight area that continues and ends into the air intake. We also thought from the beginning of active aerodynamics. Flaps that are activated according to the study of results gathered through calculations and aerodynamic testing. The whole car is shaped as a wing so it was necessary to create a high front to reduce the length of the upper part of this wing to counteract lift.
The active suspension in the front and the 4 flaps allow to optimally balance the drag coefficient and downforce.

Mercedes-AMG has created a truly unique and lightweight engine, a twin turbo with over 700 HP and 1100 Nm of torque that perfectly complements the car giving a feeling that has motivated our research: that of the brute force of an airplane taking off.
The main focus was in a power delivery that was linear and not with lag, because that could potentially create safety problems or a continuous operation of electronic driving aids.
Mercedes-AMG already 5 years ago thought about the coming environmental restrictions by creating a 12-cylinder engine that is at the peak of efficiency in terms of CO2 and consumption.

Pirelli has created a very progressive tyre with a exceptional grip in all situations and with low rolling friction. Every aspect of safety was treated not only to comply with the highest standards of the United States but also taking into account the dynamic by which most accidents with high performance rear engined cars occur.

While developing the C9 we witnessed the evolution of the different models of the Zonda and it showed us that the Zonda wasn’t obsolete as I had originally feared. The Zonda R has been a key laboratory for the Huayra. The team was able to work on many projects at the same time driving on different tracks that occasionally came to meet by sharing engineering concepts, materials, safety and scientific or design studies.

Pagani - Zonda Tricolore (2010)

On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the “Frecce Tricolori” in 2010, Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team.

The Frecce Tricolori (literally: Tricolour Arrows), known as the 313th Aerobatic Training Squadron, is the official airborne demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, based at Rivolto Air Force Base in the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, province of Udine.

They were formed in 1961 as an Air Force team, replacing previous teams that had come one after another from as far back as the late 1920s.

The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN, a two-seat aircraft capable of reaching a speed of 898 km/h at sea level. With 10 aircraft (of which 9 under formation) plus a solo, they form the most numerous aerobatics team in the world.

The Frecce Tricolori belong to the legacy of the entire Italian community.

Pagani - Zonda Cinque Roadster (2009)

Inspired to the same Pagani know-how involved in the Zonda Cinque project, with a production limited to only 5 cars, the Zonda Cinque Roadster is developed by the unparalleled Pagani team passionately committed to creating a Roadster version of each road-legal model.

To obviate the austere appearance the supercar seems to take on when the roof is removed and stowed under the front bonnet for open-top cruising, the carbon-titanium frame has been specifically redesigned to add a touch of rebellious elegance that contributes to create a unique mix of driving emotions.

With the wind ruffling their hair, drivers enter into perfect symbiosis with the Mercedes-Benz AMG 12V engine with its astounding 678 HP and 780 Nm torque, as they ride on the wings of a delightful melody arising from the enormous air inlet and the inconel and titanium exhaust system, exclusively designed at the Pagani atelier.

Pagani’s commitment to guarantee optimum driver comfort is fully reflected in the Zonda Cinque Roadster. Thanks to the robotized multi-program sequential transmission and adjustable suspensions, the supercar can easily adapt to any kind of driving condition and style, whether you choose to set out on a relaxing trip across the Tuscan hillside to discover the most important Renaissance cities, or speed along like mad across theNürburgring circuit.

Just like all the other models, the Zonda Cinque Roadster perfectly fulfils the Pagani team philosophy, which can be summarized in the perfect combination between art and technology, achieved through a meticulous research for effective project strategies and innovative design solutions.

Zonda Cinque Roadster

Pagani - Zonda Cinque (2009)

From the racetrack to the road
Zonda Cinque is the response of the Pagani atelier to a specific request submitted by the official Hong Kong dealer:

"The most extreme road–legal Zonda ever created"

This instantly recognizable supercar, created to meet the demand of five wealthy enthusiasts, is a genuine work of art intended for road use. Built to meet the highest racetrack performance standards, the Pagani team also uses the same know-how and engineering solutions previously applied to the Zonda R.

Innovations
A wider front splitter, an adjustable rear spoiler and a modified rear flat underbody and slide, meet with the requirement for an aerodynamic load of 750 Kg when the car is raced beyond 300 km/h boosted by a V12 Mercedes-AMG 678 CV engine able to unleash up to 780Nm.

The air suction system is equipped with new air inlets located in the roof and rear bonnet, and serve the function of feeding the engine and enhancing the airflow to the brake discs and the entire wheel hub group. The Pirelli Pzero tyres, exclusively dedicated and developed for the Pagani team, encase the new wheels forged with aluminium mono nuts and titanium bolts and nuts. The latter material was selected and used with the aim of reducing unsuspended masses. Moreover, thanks to the most recent research carried out by Öhlins on Pagani’s specifications, the spring/shock absorber group is developed and produced in ergal and titanium. The Zonda Cinque is the first road-legal car to feature a carbon-titanium frame and is also the first Zonda ever to mount a 6-gear sequential transmission that offers the driver uncompromised driving performance, with improved gear shift movement when cruising at high speed, and lightness and comfort when driving in the traffic.

Interior details: the mirror of the soul
The double - front nature of the supercar that was designed for the racetrack and which is now ready to hit the road, is reflected in the sophisticated interior, with details that reveal its sporty character. The Zonda Cinque gives clear details of its heritage that traces straight back to the Zonda R, with its leather seats equipped with 4 point seat belts and Pagani carbon monocoque, and last but not least, the carbon coated molybdenum-chrome steel roll bars. The design of the control devices, also inspired to the racetrack - such as the ergonomic levers located behind the steering wheel – aim at providing the highest levels of precision and total immersion in driving pleasure.

Zonda Cinque

Pagani - Zonda R (2009)

Not just “a” supercar, it’s “the” supercar
Flying on the wings of a wind that keeps blowing harder and faster, the Zonda R was designed for the racetrack, and from the racetrack, without limits. This fabulous supercar is ready to display its character in total purity and freedom. Inspired to the F version, this extreme supercar that features a longer wheelbase was created specifically to meet a client’ request. It embodies dedicated engineering know-how that represents the outcome of the maximum expression of aesthetic, aerodynamic and ergonomic research carried out at Pagani’s atelier.

New heart, new guise
The central monocoque in carbon-titanium, more rigid and lighter than ever, encases a Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 high-performance racing engine as if it were a precious gem. This four wheel prodigy is able to deliver 750 HP and produce a torque of 710 Nm. This engine is bolted directly to the central monocoque. A direct throttle actuation via mechanical cable ensures immediate throttle response, thus achieving improved propulsor performance in terms of reactivity.

20 milliseconds is the time needed by the Zonda R to perform gearshifts, thanks to a transversal sequential gearbox in magnesium, enhanced by the Xtrac transmission technolgy, Automac Engineering automation and the shift paddles located behind the steering wheel.

Intuitive, simple & configurable
When it comes to the creation of the most extreme versions, Zonda R is a clear indication that the Modenese atelier – on a par with the greatest fashion designers- is capable of strengthening its uniqueness without sacrificing driver comfort.

High performance combines with driving simplicity and manoeuvrability, thanks to a 12-way Bosch Motorsport traction control and ABS system which allows the driver to fully adjust the settings while driving the Zonda R. At the pits, the driver will be able to find a suitable setup thanks to a fully adjustable suspension and wing configuration.

0-100 in less than 2.7 seconds
A power-to-weight ratio of 701 hp-per-ton combined with Pirelli Pzero tyres can catapult the driver from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2,7 seconds, while the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes ensure the car comes to a standstill even quicker.

A dry weight of 1.070 kg is achieved through the AvionAl suspension components, Aspa machined structural ErgAl parts holding the engine and the gearbox, and Poggipolini Titanium screws. Moreover, aerodynamic setups allows for a high downforce setting of up to 1.500kg and a 350kmh top speed setting. The effectiveness of the rear is matched by the complex new front bonnet, as well as the closed flat underbody and rear diffusor.

Interior design: attention to detail and safety
The bespoke Toora seats, FIA approved and compliant with the latest HANS standards, along with five-point safety belts and roll-cage guarantee optimum driver safety. Although the overall conformation is kept to a bare minimum, the high quality finish and attention to detail do not fail to comply with the usual demanding Pagani Standards.

Pagani - Zonda Roadster F (2006)

Having inherited the “genetic heritage” of its sister coupé version, Zonda Roadster F displays a folding roof with the central part in carbon fibre and the lower part in canvas. As the natural surface carbon fibre, the smooth leather and anodized finishes spark the driver’s emotion, this supercar reveals the true character of the Italian GT, which has the sheer privilege of parading elegantly along the esplanade of Montecarlo or screeching its tyres across the Le Mans racing circuit with the same sensuality, aggressive design and mesmeric beauty.

Even during open-top cruising, this supercar makes no compromises in terms of maximum speed – a result accomplished by means of improved aerodynamic properties and the rigid chassis with increased bending and torsional rigidity.

Improvements include, amongst other things: development of specific reinforcing elements in the door sill area and tank area; specifically designed roll bars, also serving a structural function at the chassis frame level, and lastly, high-modulus 3-way carbon fibre composites.

The Zonda Roadster F, which weighs pretty much the same as the coupé version, clearly testifies to the great success of the Pagani team in terms of the aesthetical-functional improvements made, having achieved a 7:29 lap time on the Nürburgring racetrack (only a few seconds behind the Clubsport version).

Zonda Roadster F

Pagani - Zonda F (2005)

“F” like Fangio
Zonda F was designed to reflect the shared philosophy between Horacio Pagani and world champion race driver Juan Manuel Fangio, which entails a commitment to a mission, a vision and a goal without neglecting essential concepts such as lightness, safety, performance and inventiveness. Their tight friendship, which was soon heading far beyond the simple desire for a Mercedes-Benz engine, reached its highest point in 2005 with the creation of the Zonda F supercar, with logo, design concept and name entirely dedicated to Fangio.

The Pagani atelier, therefore, takes its design inspiration from the Fangio model and the outcome is an innovative and exclusive creation featuring a 12-cylinder Mercedes-AMG 12 engine, more evolved and lightweight, astonishing and fascinating compared to its predecessors, with maximum output power of 650 HP and 780 Nm torque. By following this path, Pagani manages to achieve a rare gem of luxury, endowed with character, style and a personality of its own, which reflects not only the artisan touch of its creator, but also his very inspiration.

Zonda F is the first car ever to display, upon client’s request, an exclusive bodywork in natural surface carbon fibre, according to a project philosophy which is just as transparent, pure and natural.

Moreover, the staff at the Pagani atelier convey to the client the same love for tradition and the same passion for historic race cars like those driven by the fabulous Fangio, thanks to the great professionalism and attentive care towards interior details, like the Nardi steering wheel in precious wood finished by hand or the new dashboard inspired to the art and craft of antique master clockmakers.

Zonda F is an extremely lightweight car, achieved by the utilization of parts made of titanium, aluminium and inconel.

The length of the intake manifolds are optimized for more sophisticated power regimes and shapes, thanks to the aid of the Hydroforming technology used in high-pressure moulding. The airbox contour has been developed to achieve a uniformly distributed airflow across the bench, according to a design that could be easily integrated into this unique car. By positioning the exhaust manifolds in a predetermined area, in compliance with the Formula 1 standards, the exhaust system itself ensures an enhanced flow of gas emissions.

Encased in a molybdenum-chrome frame, the Mercedes-Benz AMG 7.3 engine
is able to spark off all of its 555 hp and 750 Nm torque, even during
open top driving.

This result is mostly achieved thanks to the new central monocoque
structure made entirely of carbon that allows optimum structural
rigidity in terms of torsional and bending strength, for a dry weight
of 1280 Kg.

Elegantly appointed according to client’s demand, the Zonda Roadster
allows the lucky owner to personalize each detail according to his/her
taste, from the careful selection of materials, such as the aluminium

Pagani - Zonda S7.3 (2002)

Technical description
The deep throbbing heart of the Zonda S lies underneath the light rear bonnet. It is located in a central position, supported by a molybdenum-chrome chassis and wrapped in a specifically designed air suction system.

It is an exclusive V12 Mercedes-AMG engine, with a 7.3 litre capacity and titanium connecting-rods. It is able to produce a maximum power of 555 hp and unleash 620 Nm torque even at 2000 revolutions, and can reach up to 750 Nm at 4050 revolutions.

The front load-bearing framework is designed to absorb bumps and guarantees optimal levels of repairability and safeness while both the front and rear frame house the mechanic groups and the sophisticated aluminium suspensions.

From the outside, the Zonda S appears to have an aggressive and imposing design followed by a ferocious sound, but everything changes and evolves on the inside. The moment you rest your back against the carbon fibre seat, with one hand placed on the steering wheel and the other hand ready to engage the first gear, you find yourself catapulted into an unexpectedly comfortable environment, thanks to the silent Mercedes-AMG engine, the astonishing amount of light that penetrates through the bubble glass cockpit, the excellent sound insulation and the almost total absence of vibrations, despite its 1.250 kg of weight. Furthermore, the Zonda S has excellent levels of grip and stability regardless of road conditions. An added bonus is the total absence of rolling and pitching.

Pagani - Zonda C12 (1999)

"All projects become intriguing the very moment the cease to be so to turn into reality”
Born from the passion of a little boy, the Zonda C12 is the first Pagani supercar to be constructed at the atelier of San Cesario sul Panaro. The bodywork, inspired to the Silver arrows of the Mercedes C group, encloses the essence of an unmistakable wind, where art and science beautifully combine to create a unique symphony, fascinating and bewildering at the same time. And like a passionate lover, the melodious performance arises from the engine and gradually grows to a fascinating and vertiginous crescendo until blazing bright blue flames come spurting out from the 4 – stroke exhaust system.

A complicated research for simple ideas
Despite the peculiar concept behind its design, the supercar features a fibre carbon monocoque and a Mercedes-Benz AMG engine that is capable of unleashing as much as 394 hp with a maximum torque of 570 Nm.

The choice of mounting the V12 Mercedes engine in a central position has enabled the Zonda C12 to attain high performance levels of torque and power, while achieving overall weight reduction. Furthermore, thanks to the utilization of state-of-the-art composite materials for the chassis and the bodywork, the car structure is highly resistant and light at the same time, while guaranteeing extreme driver comfort.

The Zonda C12 is conceived, designed and developed at the Pagani atelier with utmost passion and objectiveness, with the aim of expressing the perfect blend between art and technology involved in the processing of carbon fibre, enhancing, at the same time, the nature of each material involved in the creation. All this is accomplished with the objective of keeping things simple in terms of lightness, aerodynamics and versatility, with the promise of conveying unique driving emotions, whatever the speed. This promise has surely been lived up to, thanks to the optimized suspension featuring innovative elastokinematic mounts, not to mention the optimal weight distribution and extremely low barycentre.

Space - time: the perfect compromise
Zonda C12, small from the outside and comfortable on the inside, reveals to its passengers an exclusive universe where dreams and reality cross paths thanks to the interior details inspired to past, present and future cultures. The struggle and ambition involved in the creation of a timeless automobile that is able to trigger powerful emotions in virtue of its well-proportioned forms and details, is the key element to the meticulous research for an elaborate, technical design, where great attention is paid to even the most negligible and technical detail.

Why "Car Traits"?

You might be wondering, why did you choose for the domainname "cartraits.blogspot.com".
Well, as some of you might have guessed, you should devide the words cartraits in two.
"Car" and "Traits": I guess that all of you know what a car, or vehicle in general, is.
A trait on the other hand, might not be really known (for people whose mother language isn't English, this applies for me as well. I'm Belgian ;-)) to all people around.
The definition of a trait could be: "Some sort of characteristic that matches the character of a human being or thing. In this case, that obviously would be a thing...

I also recognized the word portrait. So, hereby, we will be giving portraits of cars: cartraits

Well, hope you found this atleast a little bit(?) interesting.

Enjoy the ride ;-)

Introduction

All pictures, specifications,... about all types of cars.
Not only supercars, however they're the coolest, will be handled, but also family cars, hatchbacks, coupés, etc. will be given a spot on this webblog.

Ofcourse, I hope you will enjoy your ride on this blog.
Have a nice day ;-)
